Your wedding rehearsal is a time for the principal participants in your ceremony to become
familiar with their roles and responsibilities. Bridal party, parents of the bride and groom,
readers, and any other individuals who have a part in the ceremony should plan on attending in
order to know their parts and to ensure a smooth and joyful event.
Pastor Jack can coordinate your rehearsal to guide and instruct all participants and to
answer any questions about the ceremony.
Usually conducted within a day or two of the wedding, the rehearsal is generally a run-through
of the processional and recessional, and an advisory session regarding other aspects of the
ceremony. Direction will be given regarding other elements of the ceremony, although it is
not necessary to perform the entire ceremony at the rehearsal.
Conducting the rehearsal on the ceremony site is the best option, although sometimes the
site may have scheduled other events during the best time for your party. In this case, other
options are possible. Pastor Jack can discuss these options with you, and offer alternatives.
Saturdays, Sundays, and some Friday evenings are generally reserved for ceremonies at many sites,
and rehearsals scheduled for these days may create a conflict. Pastor Jack can offer alternatives
in these situations.
Sometimes members of the wedding party may not be able to make it to a rehearsal due to travel plans
or other conflicts. A few minutes briefing with Pastor Jack before the ceremony is generally adequate
to bring everyone up to speed and guarantee a smooth ceremony.
For very simple ceremonies, a rehearsal may not be necessary. Pastor Jack can offer an advisory
session for your participants in which he will explain the roles of all involved, give direction
regarding the processional, and answer any questions. For groups of 12 or fewer, this session
can be conducted at Pastor Jack's home office.
